An Indian Fusion Wedding at The Lodge at Iron Woods – Meher and Alex

Indian Fusion Wedding

What is an Indian Fusion wedding? It is when the bride and groom fall in love in spite of their different cultural backgrounds. The scene of the time the bride gets ready for her wedding day is always a delightful part of the day! I love it when they share stories and gifts. In this case, Meher and Hina were sharing shoes! I love (and recognized) Hina’s shoes from her wedding. From the jeweled front to the red soles, the shoes were just perfect. The perfect wedding shoes! And they did NOT go out of style! It is such a nice touch that Meher could walk down the aisle in the same shoes her sister walked to her husband on her wedding day 8 years ago!

I LOVE the flowers KP Event Design prepared for Meher! I had to take a picture of it her holding the flowers before going into her hair! A beautiful touch! I also love that Meher was prepared beforehand and had a cute Bride notebook to write her vows in. And the jewelry box, guys, that is beautiful!!

Groom and his Groomsmen

The guys got ready all together, chilling and spending time with each other. Alex too had his vows written out in preparation for the ceremony! Matching cufflinks, and cool lining on the suit coats, you guys rock!

The Bride and her Ladies

After the gents head over to The Lodge at Ironwoods Meher completes her look and prepares herself to have a reveal with her bridesmaids! Of which all were so happy for Meher! It was beautiful again to see Meher holding back tears because as she said, their sarees also looked so good on each of them!

My personal favorite part was as they all walked down to the limo, they made sure other guests did not see the bride, insomuch that they even pinned her to the wall and covered her when they saw a guest going up the elevator as they got off. And subsequently surrounded her as they walked to the limo waiting outside the Sheraton.

Ladies in British Hats in an Indian Wedding Ceremony

So Let me just say: I love how hats add so much to a wedding! This is the second wedding where the mothers were British and there were guests that wore hats on the wedding day! It was fabulous—especially for an outdoor summer wedding like this one! The colors, textures and sixes were just a perfect touch for a day as this!

The Ceremony

I love the first words spoken by Farooq, Meher’s cousin and wedding officiant: “I would be remiss in my duties as officiant if I didn’t also mention how wonderful it is that a Muslim Indian American Woman and a British American Man are getting married on the outskirts of Kansas City.”
That sentiment alone, described the entire wedding weekend, two cultures colliding as one in love and harmony! What a joy it was to be part of it all. I will ever be grateful that Meher and Alex asked us to capture their first moments as husband and wife.

As they exchanged vows, laughter, rings, and beautiful garlands, they became husband and wife. On a beautiful summer day at the Lodge of Iron Woods.

As we start to wrap up the ceremony, we get to snatch family and the bridal party for some portraits! I love how Josh is able to add a beautiful definition of light for portraits to create a classic elegance look. After family portraits, we took the bridal party and took some of them and then we ended up with the newly married couple! Happy and in love.
