Parents Getting in Wedding Party Pictures

This last weekend we shot an amazing wedding at the Historic Eldridge Hotel in Lawrence, KS! And—to be quite honest—while we were getting ready for the bridal party pictures in the hotel’s lobby I wasn’t too sure why the parents were still hanging around. This detail didn’t come up during our wedding timeline consultation. I really didn’t want the parent to feel left out and feel like onlookers but boy was I wrong! The bride and groom wanted them in the pictures with the bridal party at the venue! I simply LOVED how our couple included their parents into their bridal party! What love and respect! In all our years as wedding photographers this was a first! I immediately fell in love with the concept and hope this becomes a more common norm! Considering that, in many cases, many members of the bridal party could have been raised with the bride and groom they, themselves know the parents and in many cases see them as parental examples in their lives as well! I’ve heard SO many toasts given by best-men and maids-of-honor expressing the sacrifice parents have given to raise the bride and groom and molded them to become the amazing person they’ve become. This tells me that they know how involved brides and grooms’ parents have been in their lives and have even been part of their children’s friendships. That totally earns them an extra photo or two with the amazing couple along with their friends on the wedding day! Again, I LOVE this concept and hope that for parents who have cared for their children and let their future bridal party friends raid their fridges and driven them to soccer practice throughout the years can be much more involved with the bride and groom and their besties on the wedding day!

Tell us if you have ever been in a wedding party with all parents included in some of the wedding party pictures and tell us your experiences!
