Sarju & Resha: Hindu Reception in Chicago’s Double Tree Hotel: THREE of THREE

It is amazing how much the Grand Ballroom at the Double Tree Hotel in Chicago can undergo so many transformations in such a short period of time–kudos to Dream Occasions for a job well done! I cannot even imagine the amount of planning this must have taken them, Sarju, Resha, their venue coordinator {Khulood}, and all their staff to make all three transformations in the period of less than 24 hrs happen! That is skill and talent! Transforming the ceremony to the reception alone we done on the same day! In the reception look, I loved the blue, silver, and white accents!! I was truly almost afraid to walk on to the reflective white dance floor! I must admit that I removed my shoes at first when I did. My favorite detail of the reception decoration, however, was the floor-stand chandeliers dripping in beads and glass crystals stemming up from the center of several arch shape tables creating a whole in the center where they had the up-lighting beam up from creating a unique kind of drama to the venue. Also, their four tier {yummy} cake was created by Oak Mill Bakery which was a beautiful accent to the dance floor.

After checking out the venue and giving it our stamp of approval, we captured some portraits of the couple with their amazing family while the ballroom was yet un-touched. From there we stole the couple and took them outside to the weeping willow tree out front for some portraits. We were SO grateful that the weather cooperated with us at this point of the day!

Then was cocktail hour where we captured SO many fun shots of friends and family having laughs and enjoying themselves! I actually enjoyed chatting with a handful of them myself! I even met a paisana there! Looking at the picture of her and me below, if I had my sister’s jawline, I’d think we’d look so much alike! Totally a Boricua look!

I LOVED how Sarju and Resha had family emcee for their reception! It was the first time that I’ve ever seen a toast turn into a mini Couple Feud game! It was SO clever and fun to include Sarju and Resha in their own toasts! How else would we all have known that Resha makes the most wicked, tasty, gourmet nachos?! We loved how personable they were and how fun the questions were! They had the whole ballroom roaring in laughter! They even asked other guests what they thought they would answer to test their own Sarju/Resha IQ! SO fun!

Once the dancing began, it pretty much did not cease {as many other Indian weddings we’ve been to!} However, the songlist included English and Spanish music as well! It’s not every day that I get to hear Elvis Crespo in an Indian wedding reception, so of course I started singing and dancing {while still shooting!} SO Fun! Also, once Micheal Jackson music came booming through the speakers the reaction of all those dancing was to clear enough room for those who knew the dance! “Whoa” is all I can say! Josh and I L.O.V.E.D everything we encountered in this wedding! It was so fun to hear Sarju tell us that he felt that he was going to miss us after we left! So touching! We too enjoyed the journey we had to capture Sarju and Resha’s wedding in Chicago! Everyone’s hospitality {both friends of the bride and groom and hotel personnel} made this wedding weekend SO pleasant and enjoyable!
