It is pretty tricky to pull off a Star Wars themed wedding because it can come off as over-the-top and it is extremely hard to make all the Star Wars textures and alien themes come together in one color palette. But wow, Theza and Matt sure blew us away by making sure that their Star Wars wedding retained a whole lot of class! From the stormtrooper helmets gifted to the groomsmen during the rehearsal dinner to the sweet Star Wars themed cake by Le Gateau Suisse! Whoa!
The day started out like most others; the bride with her girls getting ready as early as possible. Chatting… laughing … crying. While the guys are chilling, acting cool as they help each other get dressed—hey, it looks good in photos and sometimes ties and bow ties are quite tricky if they are not clip-ons! The couple are in two separate locations getting ready for their big day to unfold, just like in most wedding, but then we started getting the Star Wars hints… Vader arrived (their black lab/blood hound puppy). The stormtrooper flasks came out and the masks were in the background, not to be forgotten.
And then came the first look and everything was again focused on Theza and Matt and their union as a couple. As she touched his clasped hands behind his back, he turns to find his beautiful Theza, dressed in her wedding gown with tears in her eyes proving her excitement and emotions she had built up to this moment.
They are getting married.
At St John the Evangelist church, the focus was still on them and their marriage. He waited for her as she walked down the aisle with both parents on either side, the rings and coins were blessed and they were married.
After a few photos in front of the church, We drove to Branch Brook Park and took a few pictures that highlighted the use of light sabers, mask wearing and a few posed shots all before the rain sent us away. Once we arrived to The Newark Club, we saw a few more Star Wars decorations, and a signing canvas! (I personally loved that!) I loved how they were all introduced to the dance floor wielding light sabers and then started the reception as they danced their first dance as husband and wife on the clouds (produced by their amazing DJ Mystical Entertainment!)
The dancing was non-stop and we loved the fun light saber battle performance brought to us by the bride and groom’s nephews. I must admit, as a Star Wars fan myself, I was at first a bit nervous when Theza said it was her theme, but as I grew to know her and see her preparations, I became excited and couldn’t wait capture their Episode. It definitely was a success! Enjoy the photos below!
